As we say, "All a We R One!"

Welcome Everyone! My name is nuri one heart.

When I saw the poverty in New York City, I knew I had to do something. And it started with letting the scene burn into my mind and extended into wandering into more and more impoverished sections of the continent.

I painted the above paintings. (I also put together the slide show and blog myself. Quite a feat for a newcomer to technology...)

I grew up in the little iron mining town of Hibbing, Minn, with the misquito bites and frost bites to prove it. It was a town of refugees from all over war torn Europe and the USSR. As a result, I incorporate a lot of old world, old school attitudes in my art. I fled for big city advantages after my school years, but only for brief periods; it was always nature, lakes, rivers, ocean and the forest that I kept going back to after a few months in each busy and exciting city.

As an artistic adventurer and experimenter I vascilate between many worlds; worlds of vivid bright colors, worlds of pastels, worlds of dull grey, worlds of blues and greens; worlds of extreme wealth and worlds of extreme poverty. As a painter I like to use portraiture as a part of the narrative aspect of my work since I am drawing from real life experiences and real people.

I am excited by the intersection of different media and what happens at the edges of time, space and reverence. Influenced by the juxtaposition of graffiti and realism, I paint and draw symbols from popular culture as well as ancient cultures. My work is a funnel by which the highs and the lows of my concerns, the distant familial past and current feelings can be safely explored and relayed in such a way as to spark a dialogue of their greater universal themes.

Always a photographer and a painter I recently decided to try my hand at web site creation. I could use some real good help!
